I love this scene.
Me too. I love that he’s giving Lafayette helpful advice about being a salesman.
Yes and, in the process, he gives us a little insight to how he survived for 1000 years. :)
Exactly! That sentence is pure gold:
“You walk into every situation all flash and fire. You expect them to adapt to you. That’s not salesmanship, that’s ego.”
Eric has pride and self-confidence that is as far removed from ego as possible. Confidence is what we think of ourselves and our own worth. Ego is what we would like others to think of us, and Eric gives very few damns about other people’s opinions of him.
Adaptability, confidence that isn’t mired in ego, unflinchingly honest look at the world and at himself have made Eric a survivor. And probably made him a fortune, as well.
I hope at some point he and Lafayette can continue with the “Eric Northman School of Entrepreneurship.” It’s better than any business school Lafayette wouldn’t attend anyway. :)
Lafayette in S4E11 and Jason in S5E12.
I love Jason’s creative interpretation of cliches. :))
